About the Author

Samuel T. Gladding is a Professor of Counseling and chair of the Department of Counseling at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Gladding is also the former editor of Journal for Specialists in Group Work and the author of over 100 professional publications. He has been a practicing counsellor in both public and private agencies since 1971. His leadership in the field of counselling includes service as president of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the Association for Specialists in Group Work (AGW), and Chi Sigma Iota (counseling academic and professional honor society international). Gladding is also the former editor of Journal for Specialists in Group Work and the author of over 100 professional publications. He is a national Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCHC), and a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor (North Carolina). Gladding is a Fellow in the American Counseling Association and a recipient of the Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn for a Humanitarian and Caring Person.

 

 

Kevin G. Alderson is an Associate Professor of Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. Dr. Alderson has been a counsellor for more than 30 years and a licensed practicing psychologist for 25. His experiences have included working as a child and youth care worker, a caseworker, a mental health worker, and a psychologist in diverse settings. Before joining the university in July 2001, Dr. Alderson was Head of Counselling and Health Services at Mount Royal College (now a university) in Calgary for several years. Alderson is the current Editor of the Canadian Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the author of five previous books.

I originally purchased this book back in the mid - late '80s. I was a high school teenager. I bought it from a Christian Book Store in South Florida. I had a paperback version. I loved the book so much that I read it more than once. I shared it with a friend, who shared it with another friend and the book was soon lost. I purchased another copy and the same scenario repeated again.This book is such a true treasure. I ordered six or seven new copies. It has gone to print over and over again. Prior to now, I could not find the book. I contacted Kay Arthur's company about two years ago and was informed that the book was no longer in print. I was so dismayed. I am ecstatic to see it back in circulation. I ordered every new copy I could find on Amazon, on April 1, 2017. Only two have arrived so far. The cover on this copy looks like the original cover from the first printing.I am truly elated to find this story again. I want to share it with some very special people in hopes that they will be as blessed as I was by my GOD encounters from the pages of this wonderful story!! Buy as many as you can. This is truly one of those books that you will hold dear and want to share with those whom you wish to show what an authentic picture of the heart of JESUS is like!!!

What is love? Is it a feeling or a decision? This was recommended to me when I was 15 years old, and it completely transformed my concept of a relationship with God. This book provides a beautiful story of the redemption brought about by an unconditional love. The main character realistically struggles with her doubts and fears and mistakes, and through the steadfastness of her fiancée she learns what real love is, what it does and what it does not do. Considering its brief length, there is no reason not to take the time to read this book - you won't regret it!

I remember when I first read this book,when I finally got to end.And realized that I really got two books for the price of one.How beautiful!Meaning there was really a story in a story.I read this , when first coming to except Christ in my life.And His love for me.I cried so hard, at the end.One of my most favorite books ever to read!Hoping someday that my unsaved loved ones will read!God's timing is always the right time,to be saved by His love for you and forgiveness!And time is shorter with each passes day.If you are putting off excepting Christ into your life,please don't wait!Your life maybe required of you tonight!The choice must be made while you are alive!It would be to late after death.

Absolutely one of my favorite books. A wonderful reminder that we are God's beloved. It stirs a desire to be purely devoted to Him. I have given this book for gifts for those who need to be reminded of Christ's great love for them. Highly recommend!

Ms. Arthur has written the ultimate love story.I found out about this book during my singles class, where mere words could not do it justice. When i started to read the book & found myself on the pages almost as if i had became Christiana. By chapter 2 i had a box of tissue with me. To know that my heavenly Father can see beyond what I do, and to really know that He loves so unconditionally even in the midst of my mess. This is a must read for every man, woman & teenager, this will truly teach them what real love(GODLY)love is.

I really enjoyed having the text use so much of Jewish tradition to show the beauty of what real love is.
